Matthew completed his university degree and became a qualified accountant after passing his Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations. However, he struggled to secure a role in Accounting and Finance as most firms he applied to decided he had no work experience in the industry to complement his academic qualifications.

He applied with PATH Yorkshire’s training vacancies and was offered one-year job training placement at the Children Services Financial Management Team within Leeds City Council. In addition to the training, he also attended PATH Yorkshire’s employability skills training which complemented with his job placement.

Matthew wrote to PATH stating that, “The training was a huge success for me as I developed a lot of skills, knowledge, experience and confidence. These skills, experience and knowledge gained during my one-year placement with PATH Yorkshire assisted me in securing a job with East North East Home Leeds (ENEHL) even before my placement ended.”  Matthew is now enjoying his role as a Revenue Finance Officer at ENEHL.
