Student Liaison and Engagement Officers (4 posts)

Hours of Work: Full-time – 35 hours a week

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: The starting salary will be from £18,212 up to £18,852 per annum in Grade 3a, depending on qualifications and experience. 

We are looking to recruit four Student Liaison and Engagement Officers (SLEOs) to help and support students with their engagement throughout their studies. The successful candidates will report to the Student Liaison and Engagement Team Leaders and will work alongside other SLEOs and the wider student support team, including the Academic Skills Team, Disability and Mental Health and Wellbeing. 

The successful candidates will be enthusiastic, innovative, and versatile in their approach, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with students and staff.  

Applicants will need a good honours degree. Experience of supporting students in Higher Education and a good, up-to-date knowledge of Learner Analytics, virtual learning environments and student apps would be beneficial, but full training on systems will be provided. As well as working with traditional undergraduate students, the role will involve supporting mature learners, apprentices, and foundation level students. Experience of working with students from widening participation backgrounds, who may require more support would be advantageous.

Lay Chaplain

Hours of Work:            Full-time – 35 hours per week

Contract type:             Fixed Term for 12 months

Salary:                         The starting salary will be from £35,333 up to £37,474 per annum in Grade 7a, depending on qualifications and experience.

The postholder will be responsible for supporting and developing the Catholic identity and ethos of the University.  They will play a significant and highly visible role in the day-to-day Christian life of the University Chaplaincy and in the overall Leeds Trinity community.  

Responsibilities will be centred around building community for all students, engaging in outreach and social action initiatives, and encouraging prayer, worship and faith exploration on campus.  The successful candidate will be a person who can support, devise, develop and promote a wide range of Chaplaincy activities which appeals to students studying at Leeds Trinity and the staff and wider community of the University. 

Applicants should have a good knowledge of the teaching and spirituality of the Catholic Church, a knowledge of current working practices for celebrating Masses and liturgies, and a confidence in sharing their own faith with others.  This should be combined with experience of working with people in a Catholic or Christian context and experience of both working independently and part of a team, particularly with regard to organising and running events.  High levels of personal integrity and well-developed communication, organisational and administrative skills are essential. 

The postholder will be required to work such hours as are necessary subject to a minimum of 35 hours per week and ensure that evenings and weekends are appropriately resourced by the Chaplaincy Team.

Senior Audio-Visual Technician

Media Services at Leeds Trinity University is a vibrant, multi-skilled, department, focusing on delivering high quality teaching and learning facilities, underpinned by excellent technical support, for all our students and staff. The University is embarking on a substantial period of change to both its physical estate and degree portfolio. We are looking for an experienced and motivated person to help deliver the Audio–Visual facilities to support the University’s Vision.  

Reporting to the Media Services Manager you will help design, deliver, manage and maintain facilities within your specialist area. The role requires extensive engagement and collaboration with the key stakeholders from Media Services, IT, Estates, Student Services, the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and Faculty Staff. 

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of how lecture room technology can be used to help support a wide range of inclusive and flexible learning environments. Through appropriate design input you will help deliver facilities that can meet pedagogical learning needs in areas such as group collaboration rooms, Hybrid online/onsite learning and Microsoft Teams environments. 

You will be an excellent communicator with an eye for operational and design detail. This will be backed up by an extensive practical knowledge of current Audio-Visual equipment and control software, with an understanding of how these items would integrate with secure corporate networks. 

You will be capable of prioritising and balancing project and maintenance workloads while liaising with other technical colleagues, timetabling and external Integrators to ensure excellent customer service in support of time critical day-to-day teaching and conference activities.

Maintenance Administrative Assistant

Hours of Work:            Full-time (35 hours per week)

We are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Administrative Assistant to join our busy Estates & Facilities Team. The role will include providing wide ranging admin support for the department including liaison with Contractors, CAFM admin and record keeping.   You will have a basic knowledge in the application of health and safety matters as reviewing contractors RAMS submissions and providing feedback is included.  Reporting and taking the lead from the Estates and Facilities Manager but liaising closely with other members of the Team. You will assist in developing the onsite CAFM system, uploading documents, instigate schedules and providing general management.  Some preparation and assistance for auditing purposes will be necessary as required.   Upkeeping departmental training records will be part of your remit. 

We are looking for candidates with good IT, administrative skills and experience of providing excellent customer service. You will be able to demonstrate experience of working in a similar role coupled with a City and Guilds business qualification.  A good working knowledge of health and safety practices would be beneficial as would experience in administering CAFM packages.  Good organisational skills, self-motivation and a proactive approach will be key to your progress.  You will be comfortable with working either in a team or independently.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist

Hours of Work:            6 hours a week

We are seeking to recruit an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist to join our busy and well-respected Student Mental Health & Wellbeing service.  The successful candidate will be professionally trained and accredited with BABCP with an appreciation of the benefits of this work in the context of Higher Education.   We are looking for someone who is confident in delivering therapy remotely (via Microsoft Teams).  The role may at certain times of the year also involve clinical assessments which would be conducted via phone.

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and administrative skills and be willing to be flexible to manage your own workload in response to the needs of the service.  It is important that the postholder is a positive and committed team player with a willingness to play an active part in all aspects of the service delivery.

We are looking for applicants who can work 6 hours per week to be agreed with the day’s negotiable (this would equate to a caseload of around 4 Students with two hours for admin and management meetings).

Sport and Fitness Duty Manager

Leeds Trinity University are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual to join the team as we continue to develop the programming and facilities in the Sports and Fitness Centre.

Trinity Fitness provides excellent facilities for students, staff, sports teams and the wider community boasting two sports halls, indoor cycling studio, fitness suite, 3G Astroturf, tennis courts, athletics track and grass pitches.

The successful candidate will be expected to have proven supervisory and customer service experience in a sports and fitness environment with excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of sports and fitness management issues. A recognised Fitness Instructor and Group Cycling qualification is essential to this role with the ability and experience to work on their own initiative and within a team.

The hours of work will be 35 hours per week by rota. Flexible working of both evenings and weekend working is expected of this role.

Project Support Officer

Hours of Work:            Full-time (35 hours per week)

Salary:                         The starting salary will be from £22,847 up to £24,174 per annum in Grade 5a, depending on qualifications and experience.

We are looking to appoint a reliable, flexible and competent Project Support Officer to join a dynamic and vibrant Estates and Facilities department reporting directly to our CAFM & Projects Manager. 

The key duties included within the role will include the day to day management of the Facilities Management database system including uploading projects and maintenance documents to the system. Ensuring that the database is up to date with the latest technical information.  The role will also assist with the preparation of policies, contracts and tendering works.  The post holder will be expected to liaise with external and internal contractors and consultants on a regular basis, ensuring all contracts are managed efficiently.

The role will also include the preparation of agendas and previous minutes for meetings along with taking minutes and saving in the electronic filing system.  

Applicants should have a good basic education to GCSE standard or equivalent, to include Maths and English.  Proven administrative experience is essential as is experience of Microsoft Office 2013, particularly Word and Excel. Relevant experience in the Education sector, managing Estates database information systems.  A basic knowledge of working with financial spreadsheets would be advantageous, along with relevant experience of working within an Estates/Construction team.  Organisational skills and good interpersonal and communication skills are all essential requirements of the role. 

This role will be located at Leeds Trinity University campus in Horsforth, Leeds.  Through our agile working framework, there may also be the option to spend some time working remotely to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Enterprise and Innovation Officer

We are seeking a new team member to support the delivery of Research, Innovation & Knowledge Exchange activities across the University and expand our external engagement and impact through external work.  The postholder will work closely with Business Development colleagues to co-ordinate external enquiries, linking these to Faculties and Schools across the University, as well as proactively promoting the external ‘offer’ including short courses, contract research, consultancy, and facilities, and the impact of successful collaborations. The postholder will also provide administrative support to aid the brokerage of external partnerships and income, develop systems for the organisation and reporting of projects, and support the development of external work through staff development and the enhancement of existing processes.  

The successful candidate should have strong proven administrative skills and experience; previous experience in the Higher Education sector, experience in knowledge exchange, would also be a distinct advantage.  Suitable candidates would be able to demonstrate the ability to exercise initiative and have excellent communication and IT skills (to include MS Office).  The ability to work as part of a team is a critical aspect of the role, as is a professional and flexible approach to work and excellent organisational and liaison skills.

Technician in Computer Science

We are looking to appoint a Computer Science Technician to work in our School of Computing.  You will provide technical, learning and research support to students and staff in Computer Science.  This will include the preparation and delivery of sessions including the preparation of materials, maintenance of Computer Science physical and virtual resources and support across the breadth of academic functions within the academic area of Computer Science.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, collaborative, high-performing academic member of staff to contribute to our programmes in Primary Education.  Leeds Trinity has a proud tradition of working in Teacher Education and these posts represent part of a significant investment in the Institute of Childhood and Education.  Our Primary Education provision includes undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for both 3-7 and 5-11 age phases, including a portfolio of School Direct and PGCert provision developed in close partnership with schools.  The Institute also has strong provision in the wider area of children, young people and families and now wants to build on the synergies between ITE and this provision to become one of the leaders in this field, delivering outstanding research and practice that positively impacts on children, young people, and families across our region.

Senior Lecturer in Journalism

Leeds Trinity University is seeking an enthusiastic, collaborative, and high-performing member of staff to join the Journalism team on a fixed term basis. 

We’re looking for someone who will be part of a small team working to deliver high-quality teaching and learning and excellent student experience. The successful candidate will have an excellent understanding of industry and creative practice along with extensive experience with digital journalism and the associated technologies and software. Experience of the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) and the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC) are essential, including a grasp of the academic context and debates around journalism. Programme leadership experience is desirable. The successful candidate will understand the benefits of collaborative working with a broad variety of industry partners and will work to develop new links for the benefits of our students, graduate employability, and our research expertise.

SCITT Deputy Director

Hours of Work:            1.0 FTE (35 hours per week), or 0.8 FTE (28 hours per week) if preferred

Contract Type:            Fixed Term to 31st July 2024

Salary:                         The starting salary will be from £34,304 to £40,297 per annum (pro rata) in Grade 7, depending on qualifications and experience.

Leeds Trinity University and Leeds SCITT, a designated School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider (SCITT), are seeking to appoint a Deputy Director who will share our vision and passion to develop and deliver an outstanding training programme.  This will enable us to continue to provide high quality ITT programmes in the areas of Leeds and Bradford.

The postholder will be employed by Leeds Trinity University, who validate the PGCE programme which has 60 Masters Level Credits attached to it.

The Leeds SCITT has a strong track record of delivering secondary PGCE programmes in partnership with Leeds Trinity University since 2003 2004.  In the time since its inception, Leeds SCITT has grown in terms of the size of provision and has demonstrated improving outcomes for trainees over many years.  Leeds SCITT has been rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in May 2022.  The employment, retention and promotion statistics for our trainees is a significant strength.

This partnership offers exciting teacher training programmes in which trainees benefit from the very best ‘hands on and tailored’ training in the lead schools and other partnership schools across our partnership.  Trainees gain experience working in comprehensive schools and academies in both rural and inner-city settings.

Post-Doctoral Research Assistant

Hours of Work:            Part-time (0.3fte, 10.5 hours per week)

We are looking for a creative and enthusiastic practitioner of User-Centred Design to drive forward an internally funded research project, ‘Roles in Tech’. The aim of the project is to design a novel careers education platform which will seek to inform and engage school leavers in the diverse range of career opportunities in the technology sector and highlight the importance of soft skills. 

The main purpose of the post will be to design and facilitate user experience research studies and deliver functional prototypes as part of a lean product development process. Applications from academics and industry practitioners with demonstrable experience in any of the following areas are welcomed: UX/UCD, digital product design, gaming and web and mobile application development. This post is 10.5 hours per week over 6 months. The work pattern is flexible and although the primary base will be Leeds Trinity University, we anticipate some of the work can be conducted remotely.

PATH Volunteering Opportunities

Learning Support Assistants (Volunteer ESOL Teaching Assistants) 

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join our English/ESOL team. This is a volunteering opportunity to gain work experience, helping the community, make new friends, and references for your job applications.

Learning Support Assistants provide help and support to adult ESOL learners during their English classes at PATH and Reginald Centre.  Classes are weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 12:30 pm. Some classes end at 2:30 pm.

You can choose to volunteer for half day, one day a week. 

This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain work expeience in the UK and references for your next job applications.
