Objectives
English Conversation Café for new migrants and settled migrants/local residents. To get different communities together and share experiences, cultures and traditions – while newly arrived migrants gets support with their English language skills and become ready for English classroom learning.

Achievements
We piloted a new method of teaching English for migrants with community participation, calling it the ‘English Cafe’ in 2017. Topical conversation curriculum were developed for migrants in Leeds who felt more comfortable in learning within a friendly and relax environment, preparing them for classroom learning in UK. We occassionally invited local residents or settled migrants who were interested to coach or help newly arrived migrants improve their spoken English. From 2017 until March 2023, we had a total of 653 ‘English Cafe’ learners.
