PATH Yorkshire supports refugees to gain work experience and prepare for sustainable employment.
Employer visits: A short tour of a company or business with a brief Q & A session . The visit gives an introduction to UK workplaces.
Supported work placements: This would be for a minimum of 2 days per week. Once again, this will give refugees an introduction to a British workplace, help to build confidence, current experience and a reference.
Employability workshops: Join our new “Get Into Work” 4 week employability course for refugees or join one of our short courses covering Digital Skills, Job searching, Writing Cover Letters, CV’s, Application Forms and Interview Skills
One to one employability support: This is available at our weekly Wednesday drop-in between 12-2.30pm with support from our Employability Officer

Refugee Employability Drop – In
Refugees* can access employability support on the New Roots Project by attending one of our drop-in sessions.
The Employability Drop-In runs every Wednesday from 12noon – 2.30pm at PATH Yorkshire’s offices in Chapel Allerton (29 Harrogate Road, Leeds LS7 3PD).
You can also come to use the computers, wifi and ask for support from one of the team. No booking is needed.

“Get Into Work” – 4 week employability course for refugees
The New Roots Team has launched a new “Get Into Work” 4 week employability course for refugees*. The course includes:
– Understanding the job market in the UK and the process of applying for jobs
– You and your skills. Matching your skills and experience to an employers job description.
– Applying for jobs. Learn how to write about your skills and experience in a job application.
– Build confidence at interview. Find out what is expected and get a chance to practice.
Individuals should have English at entry two or above and are thinking about starting work or getting a better job.

Refugee Drop – In
Refugees* can access multi-agency support on the New Roots Project by attending the RETAS Drop-In.
This runs each Friday from 9.30am-12noon at RETAS at the Roundhay Road Resource Centre, 233 Roundhay Road, Leeds LS8 4HS.
Staff from all three partners (Refugee Council, RETAS and PATH Yorkshire) will be available to support individuals with their needs. No booking is needed.
Refugee/ Humanitarian Protection/ ILR (Settlement)/ DLR (Over 12 months- As a reult of an asylum claim)/ Resettled refugees

Refugees with the right to work face multiple barriers gaining access to employment. PATH Yorkshire are looking for employers who want to help.
